about

Kinetik Records were named after the motion created by their darkly driving records, the type of unforgiving sounds which litter the imprint’s back catalogue. They’ve provided a whole portfolio of nastily aggressive artists, who’ve brought some of their best bodies of work to the label, never disappointing with every cut they’ve unleashed. A relatively new label who are beginning to grow their army from the vast expanse of talent offered by the world of drum & bass, they’ve recruited Redpill for Kinetik’s next offering. Never one to water down his production style, Redpill is a welcome addition to their roster, providing an unforgiving musical landscape with every track he delivers. The two-parter, ‘Use Force’ and ‘Ice Cream’ presents everything that Redpill is about as an artist. Providing only upfront, cutting beats and a standard of engineering that surpasses most newcomers in an instant.

Having already released on the likes of Noisia’s infamous ‘Invisible Records’, the Toulouse based producer stretches his production muscle throughout first record ‘Use Force’. Its impact hits you directly following an explosion of sonic anarchy, firing hit after hit of metallic artillery. Crunching forward on quaking LFO and rolling beats, the record falls forward on siren-like synths and drums which punch harder and harder with every added layer. Redpill doesn’t hold back between every metallic twist, creating a monster which snaps at you with its jagged teeth. ‘Use Force’ has a power which ricochets from start to finish.

‘Ice Cream’ comes next, once again elevating Redpill’s position within the wider drum & bass circuit, demonstrating his ability to make the cut alongside its heaviest players. ‘Ice Cream’ rolls out with a foreboding intro, before it slips across clattering breaks and pounding drums. The hook makes itself known throughout each crushing slab of bass, rushing forward with an unbridled intensity. Created for the dancefloor, ‘Ice Cream’ commands your every nerve ending, sending bodies gyrating throughout the clubs. Kinetik Records presents a single which will place them firmly into the league tables, proving their undeniable eye for talent. Alongside artists like Redpill, they’re an unstoppable force, one which is sure to rise even higher within the 174bpm ranks.
